SIBU, April 28: Selangau and Stapang police stations should be placed under Sibu police, suggested Sibu Division Resident Wong Hee Sieng.
Wong said currently Selangau Police Station is under the Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD) and the Stapang Police Station under Dalat police.
“These two stations are very close to the Sibu IPD and it is easy for the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Sibu to provide security services in the event of a crime or serious threat,” he said when receiving a courtesy call from Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili at his office here today.
Wong said if the two police stations were to be placed under the administration of the Sibu IPD, it would not involve much costs.
The purpose, he said, was to upgrade the posts of the members of the two police stations so that effective services may be provided to the local community.
During the visit, Zulkipli briefed on the security situation in Sibu District which Wong accepted with approval.
“No grievances or complaints have been received from members of the public where the community is free to carry out activities without fear of the threat of crime,” Zulkipli explained.
Meanwhile, Wong greatly appreciated the role of PDRM, especially in the Sibu IPD, which had successfully carried out its duties in enforcing the law and maintaining order during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Overall, I feel very proud and satisfied to be able to perform my duties and work with the Sibu IPD,” added Wong.
During the visit, Wong and Zulkipli also touched and discussed on the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) of the National Security Council (MKN). — DayakDaily
