Selamat is new Serian Resident as Tuah retires after 39 years in public service

SERIAN, July 6: Serian Resident Tuah Suni has officially retired after serving for 39 years in the State civil service and Selamat Yati Yanjah will take up the position, effective immediately.

A ceremony to bid farewell to Tuah and welcome Selamat as the new Serian Resident was held at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre in Serian Division here yesterday (July 5).

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus and Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada.

Tuah from Kampung Tarat, Serian has held the post since Jan 2, 2022.

Prior to that, Tuah had served in Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) under the Highland Development Agency (HDA) Division in 2018.

He was also a former Limbang Division deputy resident (2013-2017), a former Kapit Division deputy resident (2009-2012), a former Song District officer (2008-2009).

In his nearly four decades in public service, Tuah has served as the secretary of Sarawak Rural Development Ministry from 2003 to 2007, assistant director of Sarawak Economic Planning Unit and Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department from 1996 to 1997 and as Tatau District Office administrative officer from 1993 to 1995.

The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of appointment certificates to new community leaders in Serian namely Penghulu Cosmas Andrew Luak (Paun), Penghulu Peter Kiang Sai (Stabun), Penghulu Mandai Bangik (Baki) dan Penghulu Rapeng Garak (Sungai Tuna). — DayakDaily
