KUCHING, May 6: The Sejiwa Senada Programme will be held at the border town of Lubok Antu near Sri Aman on May 7 and 8 at the town’s bus terminal.
The programme organised by the state government will provide various benefits for the locals.
A press release from the State Protocol and Public Relations Unit said the programme would also give the locals there the chance to meet Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who will officially launch the programme on the morning of May 8.
As the programme will be held in Lubok Antu town, it is an opportunity for people from around Betong, Sri Aman and Engkilili as well as other nearby areas to visit the various booths and access government services, information and advice including from government-linked companies (GLCs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the private sector.
There will be more than 30 booths available offering various state and federal government services, advice, exhibitions and sales of local products.
A variety of food and drinks will also be on sale at the Sarawak Kitchen plus a concert and lucky draws for the visitors.
The lucky draws meanwhile offers two motorcycles, branded hand phones and many other electrical items as prizes for winners.
Members of the public are advised to come early to the event to get the entry form, fill in their particulars as instructed and return it to the secretariat.
Another event of interest would be the Sejiwa Senada Concert scheduled for May 7 starting at 8pm.
The concert would feature many top Malaysian artistes such as Bob AF, Zizi Kirana, Ricky Andrewson, Melissa Francis, Franklin Maxwell, Jennifer Jack, Iwan Dasri and Zaki Zaidi with D’Cipta band in attendance.
The singers would also perform in a pre-show on May 8 at 8.30am before the arrival of the Chief Minister.
Bob, from Limbang, is popular after his participation in Akademi Fantasia 2 while Zizi, a Sabahan, is famous for her dangdut, pop and hip hop genre songs, and she is an alumni of Akademi Fantasia 7.
In addition, a performance by RTM Kuching’s popular comedians Bunyau and Mujap will surely amuse the big crowd expected at the concert.
Bunyau and Mujap from RTM Wai FM have been travelling across Sarawak to deliver their funny acts, especially among the Iban community.
The Sejiwa Senada programme is one of the initiatives of the state government to build rapport with the rakyat by going to the ground, and is thus aptly themed ‘Government with the People’.
The programme acts as a one-stop centre (Pusat Sehenti) for the government to serve the people and the people to be involved in other activities such as sports and recreational activities.
The programme is also to enhance the ‘feel good’ factor among the people so that they would be confident and aware of what the government is doing in bringing development and to uplift the socio economic and living standard of the people.
Through the Sejiwa Senada programme, the government hopes to build stronger rapport with the rakyat and to sustain good cooperation with them for the sake of progress and harmony in the state. — DayakDaily
