KUCHING, June 27: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar wants Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How to first check with his ministry before making unsubstantial claims pertaining to Tekun Nasional Bhd (Tekun)  financing schemes.

According to Wan Junaidi, Tekun loans of RM10,000 for delivery riders are available and, hence, See’s claims that these loans were not available were misleading.

“He should have known, it is not that the programme is not available, but the problem could be that the officers, from whom he asked about the matter, was not aware of such programme,” he told a press conference held during a projects’ briefing with the Public Works Department (JKR) Kuching, at Jalan Batu Lintang, today.

Wan Junaidi said this in response to See’s remarks that numerous Sarawakians had contacted Tekun Nasional offices in the state and banks who are participating in Tekun Nasional’s easy access micro credit financing facilities, and were told there was no such facilities.

Wan Junaidi, who is also the MP for Santubong, said that See should have instead made an inquiry to the related ministry, in order to verify the matter.

“Don’t just simply come out with a statement that there is no loan provided at all. This is not the way to serve the people. This is just wanting to find other people’s mistake,” he added.

Tekun Nasional, in April 2020, has introduced an interest-free financing scheme for deliver riders (Tekun Mobilepreneur 1.0) with a maximum financing value of up to RM2,000. This scheme is to assist the motorcycle e-hailing riders to have the means to repair their motorcycles  or installing additional accessories.

Due to the need and demand, Tekun Mobilepreneur 2.0 financing scheme was announced, with a maximum financing value of up to RM10,000. The scheme aims to provide delivery riders an assistance in purchasing new motorcycles and round capital for ‘e-hailing riders’ who have registered with ‘e-hailing’ companies.

The launch of the Tekun Mobilepreneur 2.0 will be on July 7, 2020 and all e-hailing riders who meet the requirements can start applying for the scheme with an application limit of only 500 riders. –DayakDaily.
