KUCHING, March 7: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) will hold a series of events and activities in conjunction with its 50th golden jubilee celebration, which started on March 1, 2022.

SEDC general manager Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir, in a statement today, said the agency’s anniversary celebration would be held on a modest scale in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the relevant authorities.

According to Abdul Hadi, the calendar of events started with a thanksgiving ceremony and prayer service at Dewan Kenyalang, Menara SEDC, on March 1.

“This was to coincide with the date of SEDC’s establishment in 1972 and to commemorate Israk Mikraj celebrated by Muslims all over the world.

“The recent thanksgiving event was graced by SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Dato Husain and participated by staff members,” he said.

Abdul Hadi added among the highlights of the agency’s anniversary celebration include a dinner to be held in June, which will be graced by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the Minister-In-Charge of SEDC.

He said there would also be a series of activities organised as part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. It will include the State-wide ‘Ziarah Kasih’ programme to aid those in need.

“The CSR programmes will be supported by SEDC Social and Recreation Club (Pedas) and SEDC Islamic Staff Committee (Jakis), in which personal contributions will be channelled to the less fortunate members of our society.”

Meanwhile, Abdul Hadi also thanked the staff of SEDC for playing their role and supporting the upcoming activities, which will include the participation of local entrepreneurs and business communities under the agency’s entrepreneurship and community development programmes conducted over the past decades. ― DayakDaily
