KUCHING, June 10: Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak (Sedar) will bear the election costs for all its 82 candidates as the party is confident of winning at the coming 12th state election (PRN12).
Sedar president Datuk Othman Abdullah, in a statement today, assured all selected candidates that the party had the funds to cover the election costs.
“This is because we are confident of winning the state election based on the overwhelming response to the party’s policies, in particular, the Sarawak Basic Dividend and the People’s Equity Rights Fund,” he said.
Othman revealed that the party had already confirmed the candidates for 38 constituencies.
“We are still assessing potential nominees in hand for the remaining 44 constituencies.
“Sedar will welcome any aspirants who wish to come forward and offer their prospective candidacy,” he said.
The full list of Party Sedar’s candidates for PRN12, he added, can be expected to be announced at the party’s Annual General Congress scheduled for September 2020.
“Sedar is determined to field only good people committed to the aspirations of the party and most importantly remain loyal to the mandate given by the electorate won through fair and free elections.
“We will not condone our candidates if they break the election spending laws or the abhorrent practice of vote-buying,” he emphasised.
Meanwhile, the election costs to be provided to its candidates would cover election deposits as well as campaign materials such as party flags, banners, buntings, printed and multimedia materials for distribution to the electorates.
Sarawak last held its state election in May 2016 and the next state election is due by 2021.āDayakDaily
