KUCHING, May 26: One million slots for the second round of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in registration for Malaysians aged 60 and below were fully booked within 90 minutes.

According to national daily Bernama, a tweet by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) at 1:27pm today said the appointment booking for the vaccine was closed and those eligible would receive an appointment soon.

Before that, CITF said over 300,000 slots for the second round of the opt-in programme for the AstraZeneca vaccine had been booked as of 12:56pm; less than an hour after the registration opened to people below the age of 60.

The second round of the AstraZeneca opt-in programme was opened to Malaysians aged 60 and below in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, Sarawak and Selangor at 12:15pm today after a technical glitch saw many struggling to complete the registration process.

On May 23, the bookings were opened to those aged 60 and above.

Meanwhile, the AstraZeneca appointment booking requires the applicants to register under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme and it can be made through the MySejahtera application, CITF website or through its hotline.

On another note, MySejahtera in a separate tweet at 12:40pm said some people might not be able to access certain functions of the application due to high traffic. — DayakDaily
