KUCHING, May 20: Residents of Kampung Seberang Hilir will start moving into their new homes at the new Darul Hana housing area come August 2022.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the relocation is part of the restructuring of housing development in Petra Jaya which covers the areas of Samariang and Matang up until Segedup.

He said the relocation will start with the two villages of Seberang Hilir first, although he didn’t specify which ones would be involved.

“Meanwhile, the extended families would move to Sungai Bedaun. Additionally, we will also develop up until the back of Kampung Buntal area.

“We will also develop the Samariang area because we want to reorganise the housing settlements with the cooperation of the community,” he said when officiating the Kuching North City Commission’s (DBKU) Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2022 event in Kuching earlier tonight.

Abang Johari further said that DBKU’s counterpart, Kuching South City Council (MBKS), is also looking into implementing housing restructuring development. Currently, it is in the process of identifying the locations for such development.

“Through this, our city will become more organised and clean,” he added.

Premier’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and DBKU Mayor Datu Junaidi Reduan were among those present. — DayakDaily
