KUCHING, March 23: Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom reveals the Sebauh Bridge crossing the Kemena River in Bintulu, is expected to be completed by August 2025.

According to the news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Dr Rundi said that the project undertaken by the rescue contractor showed positive progress and is reported to be ahead of schedule.

“I am satisfied that the project will continue according to schedule and will not take too long to complete.

“With the approved allocation, we hope that in 2025 all projects will be able to start and be completed by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026,” he said at a press conference on the briefing on the status of project implementation in the Sebauh on Friday (March 22, 2024).

Rundi, who also is Kemena assemblyman, stated that other projects in his constituency and surrounding areas would also be implemented after experiencing delays due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

“The Sarawak government aims to develop the rural areas in Bintulu so we hope that Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) could help us build the main infrastructure such as roads, water supply and telecommunications.

“With all of this, only then will we be able to develop the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people living outside the city,” he said.
