Search underway for missing 74yo woman in Selangau

KUCHING, Jan 28: A search and rescue operation was launched yesterday (Jan 27) after a 74-year-old woman in Selangau was reported missing.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, Bomba Tatau received a call regarding the missing person at Rh Samuli in Sungai Tatau at 10.10pm and deployed their personnel to the location.

Based on the information received, at 2.15pm on the same day, the victim, Cherurai Mukan, went out to fish at a nearby river behind the longhouse and failed to return.

At 6.30pm, 30 residents from four longhouses searched for the victim in the nearby area, including a palm oil plantation.

Following the arrival of firefighters, the search continued in the same area, covering a 700 square meter radius, but no of the victim.

Due to nightfall, the search was postponed and resumed today. — DayakDaily
