Search underway for missing 66yo woman in Betong

BETONG, Dec 20: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched to locate a 66-year-old woman, Jijah Sanggah, who was reported missing from Rumah Jack, Pais, Skrang here since Wednesday (Dec 18).

According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), she was last seen heading to her farm on Dec 18 but did not return home.

Concerned family members reported her disappearance to the Skrang Police Station the following day.

On the second day (Dec 20) of the SAR operation, efforts were concentrated around the last known location of the victim, where her food container and machete were found.

“The search covered a three-kilometre radius, including trails near the old Pais Village.

“Additional efforts included a river search along the Skrang River using boats from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Civil Defence Force (APM).

“Despite extensive efforts involving multiple agencies and local villagers, the victim remains missing,” Bomba said today. — DayakDaily
