SERIAN, Sept 24: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a missing 83-year-old man is still ongoing as the second day of the operation today yielded no results.
According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim, Jambung Ajui, was reported missing by his son, Stanis John Jambung, at 8am last Sunday (Sept 22).
According to Stanis, his father left the house at 5.30pm last Saturday (Sept 21) and has not returned since.
“Search methods used for the operation include using the ‘sweep searching’ technique in addition to focusing on a 2km radius around the victim’s home.
However, at 5pm, due to weather factors and the situation in the forest getting darker, police decided to postpone the SAR operation, which will continue tomorrow (Sept 25).
Four police personnel, four People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel, seven Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel, two K9 Unit dogs (Daisy and Bella), and ten villagers joined nine Bomba personnel in the SAR operation. — DayakDaily
