BELAGA, April 3: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been mounted for a 29-year-old Kenyah woman who has been missing since Monday (April 1) near Sungai Asap.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to an emergency call regarding a missing person at 8.10am today and swiftly deployed a team from the Belaga Station to the location.

According to the victim’s mother, they had ventured out together to their farm near Simpang Sepakau in Sungai Asap at about 4.30pm on Monday.

Later, the mother requested the daughter to retrieve a coconut sickle left at home.

However, the daughter never returned to the farm or home, prompting a police report to be lodged yesterday (April 2) at 3.40pm.

Described as petite, standing about 130cm tall, the woman was last seen wearing a black short-sleeve shirt and black short pants before her disappearance.

In addition to Bomba, the SAR operation involves teams from the police, Civil Defence Force (APM), and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela). — DayakDaily
