Search for missing 6yo boy with autism in Batu Kawa enters second day

KUCHING, Aug 25: The search continues for Enrique Bong Kai Cen—a six-year-old boy with autism—who was reported missing by his family when he left their house along Jalan Kim Chu Shin in Batu Kawa here without their knowledge.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the search and rescue (SAR) operation entered its second day today at 8.20am.

In addition to firefighters, other departments and agencies involved in the operation include the police, the Civil Defence Force (APM), and the K9 and drone units.

Also participating in the search are the Malaysia Volunteers Corps Department (RELA) and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai.

Two methods will be utilised in today’s operation—a land search through the forest and trails within a 300-metre radius from the Bomba control post at the victim’s house towards the river, and a surface search along the river using a police boat within a four-kilometre radius extending to Kampung Sejijak.

Based on the chronology of the case, the victim was said to have left the house at around 4.15pm on Sunday (Aug 24) without the knowledge of any of his family members.

When they discovered he was missing, they carried out a search for him, whereby they found one of his shoes about 10m near a small stream in Kampung Kim Chu Shin, and the other shoe was found about 30m away, but they could not locate him. — DayakDaily
