KUCHING, April 29: A community cluster involving a seafood restaurant at Jalan Penghulu Durin, Bau has emerged, registering six Covid-19 cases so far.
According to a Sarawak Management Disaster Committee (SDMC) statement today, the index case is an employee of the seafood restaurant.
On April 11, the 32-year-old local woman complained of Covid-19 symptoms. She went for screening at Bau Hospital on April 15, 2021 and was found to be positive for Covid-19.
Upon further investigation and screening among close contacts including her colleagues and family members, five more positive cases were detected.
In total, 96 individuals have been tested. Six tested positive (including the index case), 70 individuals had negative results and 20 more are awaiting laboratory results.
Meanwhile, SDMC reported six new clusters today, pushed the total number of active clusters to 71 with 10 clusters recorded an increase in daily infections, contributing a total of 50 new cases today.
Of these, the Melugu Cluster recorded 12 new cases; Icom Cluster (8); Pondok Cluster (8); Jalan Disa Cluster (7); Duranda Emas Cluster (6); Tarat Tani Cluster (4); Disso Cluster (2) and the Kampung Tengah Cluster, Sungai Tuah Cluster and Jalan Maju Cluster recording one case each. — DayakDaily
