SIBU, Oct 29: Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) has been advised to cooperate with the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) to speed up the process of surveying NCR land.
“DBNA has achieved success in helping its community in getting their land surveyed and later had their land titles issued under Section 6 to Section 18 of the State Land Code. So SDNU should discuss and learn from DBNA on this matter,” said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at the SDNU dinner held in conjunction with its Triennial General Meeting (TGM) last night.
He explained that it has become the commitment of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to give land ownership letters to the people.
“We don’t promise but we will do our best for that purpose. Therefore, this is SDNU’s task in these three years to help its community speed up the NCR land surveying process by learning from the DBNA search,” he emphasised.
He said, with regard to NCR land, the GPS government is always sensitive to the concerns of owners regarding ownership issues.
He explained that the NCR land survey will be an ongoing process where this year the government has allocated a total of RM40 million for that purpose.
“Up to April 30, 2022, perimeter surveys have been carried out on 1,031,712 hectares. Of this amount, approximately 794,503 hectares have been gazetted under Section 6.
“A total of 195,975 hectares of individual lots have been approved to be measured of which 66,808 hectares have been registered. A total of 54,072 individual land lots have been measured under Section 18,” he said.
Among those present were Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government l Michael Tiang, Ngemah Assemblyman Anyi Jana, SDNU President Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, SDNU Deputy President Christopher Gira Sambang, and SDNU Sibu Branch Chairman Chambai Lindong. — DayakDaily
