KUCHING, April 29: Students residing in hostels and dormitories of schools and education institutions in the State are now allowed to return home.

In making this announcement, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the decision was made following the announcement made by the Ministry of Education (MoE), recently.

“As such, SDMC will allow students living in dormitories to return to their respective homes without having to perform the rt-PCR test,” it said in a press statement today.

On April 20, SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas advised the students in hostels and dormitories of school and education institutions located in Covid-19 red zones affected by school closures to stay at their hostels and not risk it by going home.

He said the students are not allowed to leave the premises and are required to remain on campus for their safety and that of their families. — DayakDaily
