SDMC: Live events, team sports, combat sports can resume right away

KUCHING, July 17: Live events as well as sports involving team, combat, individual and motoring are allowed to be carried out right away while the Kuching Waterfront Musical Fountain will resume operations tomorrow (July 18).

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that the fountain shows will operate in compliance with standard operating procedure (SOP) set by Kuching City North Commission (DBKU).


“The Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) has also issued SOP for live events which include all activities related to the creative industry (multimedia, cultural, and heritage) and indoor busking which come into effect immediately,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 today.

He added that the Ministry of Youth and Sports have also fixed the opening of the sports and recreational sector for phase three and four.

“It involves group sports, combat sports and individual sports as well as motoring effective immediately,” he said.

Meanwhile, Uggah pointed out that only 50 per cent of the capacity of the premises is allowed to be used for all official government events in Kuching district.

“For unofficial events and functions, the number of participants allowed is maintained at 250.

“While for districts labelled green zone, the number of participants allowed for unofficial events and functions is based on the 50 per cent capacity of premises,” he said.—DayakDaily
