KUCHING, April 21: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) placed on Sri Aman Prison and its staff quarters has been lifted today.

According to a statement issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the decision was made following after no positive cases were detected during the second round of swab tests among the prison inmates, its staff and their family members.

On April 6, there was a Covid-19 outbreak in Sri Aman prison and the staff quarters where a total of 128 individuals tested positive for the virus.

The high number of Covid-19 cases had resulted in Sri Aman Prison and its staff quarters being placed under EMCO as a measure to curb the spread.

Meanwhile, SDMC also announced the end of the EMCO on Kampung Menuang Baru of Limbang effective tomorrow (April 22, 2021).

SDMC said the decision was made after the second screening for Covid-19 among the villagers did not yield any new cases.

The decision was also made as evidence showed that Covid-19 was no longer being spread among the villagers. — DayakDaily
