4 elderly men die due to Covid-19, Sarawak sees 429 new cases today

KUCHING, April 21: Four elderly men aged between 61 and 82 who had comorbidities died of Covid-19 in Sibu Hospital today, while Sarawak reported 429 new cases.

According to a statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the 429 cases were derived from Meradong (82), Sibu (62), Bintulu (58), Kuching (54), Bukit Mabong (36), Miri (23), Kapit (21), Song (17), Mukah (11), Sarikei (11), Julau (7), Samarahan (6), Kanowit (5), Subis (5), Selangau (5), Limbang (5), Marudi (4), Matu (4), Pakan (4), Sri Aman (2), Pusa (1), Serian (1), Dalat (1), Saratok (1), Beluru (1), Belaga (1) and Bau (1).


The additional 429 cases has pushed the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Sarawak to 25,558.

At the same time, the death toll due to Covid-19 in Sarawak has risen to 145 persons with four new death cases reported.

On another note, SDMC said there were 414 Covid-19 patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Nonetheless, there are 5,706 Covid-19 patients who are still being treated for coronavirus in hospitals and low risk quarantine centres throughout the state.

On another note, there were 428 new cases of Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) and none are currently awaiting results for Covid-19 swab tests. — DayakDaily
