SDMC: 4 deaths from Covid-19 in Sarawak today

KUCHING, May 28: Sarawak reported four deaths due to Covid-19 today, bringing the total number of fatalities due to the disease in the State to 276 people.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Sri Aman hospital and Sarawak General Gospital (SGH) in Kuching reported two cases each.

The 273rd fatality came from the Nanga Skrang Cluster, involving a 72-year-old man with comorbidities of hypertension and gout.


He was brought to Sri Aman hospital for treatment after having a fever for two weeks. The deceased was then referred to SGH for further treatment where the RTK Antigen and rt-PCR swab was conducted and subsequently tested positive Covid-19 on May 19.

However, his health condition began to deteriorate and he finally passed away on May 27.

A 57-year-old woman who died on May 27 became the state’s 274th death case, added the committee.

It said the victim, who had comorbidities of hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia was taken to Sri Aman hospital after suffering from breathing difficulties, fever, cough and sore throat symptoms for a few days.

She tested positive Covid-19 on the same day she died.

The 275th death involved a 89-year-old woman who was placed at the quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC) in Sri Aman after she was found positive through the rt-PCR test on May 25.

The committee said she was a close contact to another positive case and had comorbidities of hypertension.

Her condition began to deteriorate and she died on May 27.

Meanwhile, the 276th death case involves a 77-year-old woman who was found unconscious at home before being taken to SGH.

According to her health history, she had symptoms of fever and poor appetite for the last few days, with comorbidities of high blood pressure and diabetes.

Her rt-PCR test on May 21 tested positive for Covid-19 and she died on May 27. — DayakDaily
