SIBU, Feb 7: Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) is readying itself to face the expected surge in Omicron cases.

Its coordinator, Dr Annuar Rapaee in a statement said the committee is expecting the number of Covid-19 cases to increase in one to two months’ time due to the Omicron variant.

In anticipation of the possible jump in case numbers, Dr Annuar strongly advised the public to continue adhering to existing standard operating procedures and to avoid crowded places.

On the 14 new cases reported in Sibu district yesterday, he said the number was the highest daily total recorded in the past two months. — DayakDaily
