SIBU, April 19: Scoot, the low-cost airline subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), has adjusted the flight schedule for its Singapore to Sibu route, moving the departure time from 5.25am to 12.35pm.
Starting from June 5, Scoot will operate thrice-weekly flights between Singapore and Sibu, as well as four flights weekly for the Singapore-Miri sector.
SUPP Dudong chairman Wong Ching Yong confirmed today that Scoot has agreed to the requested change in flight time.
Wong had previously raised concerns about the early morning departure time, stating that it inconvenienced passengers who would have to spend a night in Singapore to catch the flight.
“I’m glad that Scoot has heard our voice,” Wong said. “Whether it’s for locals returning home after traveling from Sibu to Singapore, or tourists coming to us from the local area, friendlier flight times are necessary.”
He expressed hope that the new departure time of 12.35pm would become permanent and bring a more stable number of passengers to Sibu.
Wong also extended his gratitude to Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin for his efforts in addressing concerns about the direct flight route from Singapore to Sibu, including his involvement in the communication, negotiation, and arrangement process with Scoot. — DayakDaily
