KUCHING, May 23: School sessions in Malaysia will begin in January from 2026, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
She said the ministry is working on bringing forward the start of the 2024/2025 academic calendar, which will start in February 2025 to allow for the school session to start in January starting 2026.
“I am pleased to announce that the start of the school session will return to January in 2026.
“The ministry hopes with the announcement, all financial and economic aspects can be planned earlier starting now by all relevant parties,” she said in Parliament in Kuala Lumpur today.
Fadhlina noted that the Education Ministry had previously decided to adjust the academic calendar for 2021/2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said the changes resulted in the 2023/2023 academic calendar starting in March. — DayakDaily
