KUCHING, May 22: Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki has commended grassroots organisations in Satok for their contributions in fostering harmony within the community.

He said local organisations ensure issues that arise within the community can be resolved early on, allowing them to live properously.

“The harmony that exists within our community is very strong. This was fostered by the grassroots through organisations like village development and safety committees (JKKKs), neighbourhood watch area (KRT) and mosque management committees.

“With their cooperation like here in Kampung Segedup along with the activities held, the community has become vibrant.

“It also helped me with my responsibility to look after the area and to address issues faced by the community,” he said in a statement today, following the Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri programme at Kampung Segedup on Sunday (May 21).

Ibrahim also said it is vital for the village, which is seeing a growth in population to have close-knit relationships between its residents to help smoothen the delivery of government services.

“Segedup is a vast area in the Satok constituency. The population here is close to 4,000 people. The main movers of the community are the local organisations and I thank them for that.

“Not only are they helping the community to lead better lives, but they also ensure that the residents can benefit from policies made by the government,” he added. — DayakDaily
