KUCHING, April 2: Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki presented a personal contribution to the victims of a fire incident at Lorong Satok 17 today.
In a media release, Ibrahim’s visit included meeting with families from the two affected homes and assessing the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
Expressing gratitude for the timely assistance were three elderly siblings – Lim Chuan Lian, Lim Khiun Lian, and Lim Ching Lian.
Chuan Lian, the youngest of the three, said their house was previously repaired under the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS) a few years ago.
“However, the fire which occurred on Monday damaged the newly repaired roof,” she said when met today.
During his visit, Ibrahim also extended assistance to Jong Kim Juan, a resident of the neighbouring house.
Alongside cash donations, the families also received food baskets to aid in their recovery.
Meanwhile, the fire, which occurred at 3.26pm on Monday, nearly destroyed one house and partially damaged two others.
The first house sustained 70 per cent damage, while heat exposure caused partial damage to the second house, and two air-conditioning units were destroyed in another house. — DayakDaily
