Sarikei’s Covid-19 status improves to yellow

KUCHING, Feb 2: Sarikei District’s Covid-19 advisory level has improved to yellow from orange today after maintaining 15 local cases in the past 14 days.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today reported that Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri, Sibu and Kuching remained as high-risk red zones of Covid-19 pandemic spread with total 1,961 local cases reported in the past 14 days.

Bau, Lundu, Subis and Betong also retained the orange zone status with 105 local cases reported in the last 14 days.

Beluru, Matu, Daro, Sebauh, Lawas, Telang Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Selangau, Samarahan and Sri Aman are still under yellow zone status with total of 132 local cases reported in the past 14 days.

Of the 40 districts in Sarawak, there were only nine districts defending their green zone status.

They are Asajaya, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Saratok, Kabong and Marudi.

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded 148 new recoveries with 101 patients discharged from Sibu Hospital, Bintulu Hospital (18), Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) (15), Miri Hospital (10), Sarikei Hospital (4).

This thus increased the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak to 2,985 or 63.84 per cent of total positive cases so far.

However, there are still 1,635 patients hospitalised in hospitals and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) throughout Sarawak.

Sibu Hospital has the most admission with 862 patients being isolated and receiving treatment in the hospital while the low-risk patients at PKRC.

Hospital Miri has 315 cases, SGH has 159 cases, Bintulu Hospital has 132 cases, Kapit Hospital and Kapit PKRC with a total of 138 cases, Sarikei Hospital has 24 cases, Limbang Hospital has four cases and PKRC Sipitang in Sabah one case.

Out of the total number of patients, four patients in SGH, six in Sibu Hospital and three patients in Miri Hospital were in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) while one patient in SGH, seven in Sibu Hospital and three in Miri Hospital required the support of medical equipment.

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded 121 new Covid-19 cases today with Sibu registering 37 cases, Miri (25), Kapit (21), Dalat (10), Bintulu (9), Bukit Mabong (4), three each in Kuching, Song and Beluru, Serian (2), and one each in Sarikei, Kanowit, Julau and Selangau.
This thus raised the state tally of positive cases to 4,676. — DayakDaily
