KUCHING, Jan 19: Sarawak’s renowned boxer, ‘Kilat Boy’ Daeloniel McDelon Bong, has partnered with Raya Khas Sdn Bhd, a leading Bumiputera automotive brand, marking a pivotal moment in his career while expanding his role as a youth icon in the State.

Speaking to reporters, Kilat Boy shared that he has received numerous offers from companies but found Raya Khas’ mission uniquely aligned with his values.

“Many companies have expressed interest in working with me, but not all align with my principles.

“Raya Khas, however, shares my goal of giving back to the community, which made this partnership an easy choice,” he said during the company’s “Customer Day Out 2024” event, where the company also unveiled its new corporate logo at a ceremony in the city centre yesterday (Jan 18).

As the brand’s icon, Kilat Boy will spearhead various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, including Ramadan initiatives such as breaking fast with orphans, distributing food baskets to underprivileged families, and supporting tahfiz students across Sarawak.

“These initiatives resonate deeply with me because I’ve always believed in using my platform to inspire and uplift others, especially the youth.

“I want to inspire them so that they can be like me—not necessarily in sports—but at least better than who I am today and achieve greater success. I don’t want them to get involved in unhealthy activities,” he added.

Meanwhile, Raya Khas Executive Director Yusof Roy Fitri Mohd Johnny explained that Kilat Boy’s humility, perseverance, and determination made him an ideal representative for the brand.

“He has an incredible fighting spirit and is deeply driven to achieve great success, not only to bring glory to the country but also to elevate Sarawak on the global stage.

“These values align closely with Raya Khas’ mission, which goes beyond profits to focus on helping customers achieve their dreams of owning affordable imported cars through trusted service,” he explained.

Yusof further expressed pride in supporting Kilat Boy’s career as the latter aims to become a world champion, potentially an Olympic gold medalist.

Kilat Boy’s achievements have brought boxing into the spotlight in Sarawak, gaining him recognition locally and internationally. Since rising to prominence in 2022, he has drawn attention to the sport, inspiring a new generation of athletes.

The promising boxer even competed in the Rentap Fighting Championship held last night (Jan 18) at the Sarawak Indoor Stadium, where he defeated Indonesian Boido Simanjuntak in the 55kg category.

Next month, Kilat Boy is set to participate in the Johor International Boxing Championship, a crucial event that could impact his world ranking. — DayakDaily
