KUCHING, July 27: Sarawakian Wynson Ong Teck Ping has made the region proud after being honoured with the prestigious King’s Award for Excellence 2025 and an Honorary Doctorate in Consumer Advocacy and Community Development, both conferred personally by Lord Paul Martin at the UK House of Lords in London on July 23.

Ong is among just 21 recipients globally and one of only 11 individuals awarded the honorary doctorate this year—an achievement that marks a proud milestone not only for himself but also for Malaysia, Borneo, and especially Sarawak.

“This honour is not just a personal milestone; it is a shared triumph that reflects the power of community, culture and collective effort,” Ong said during his acceptance remarks.

The King’s Award for Excellence is one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious international accolades, recognising outstanding global leaders who champion positive change, foster cross-cultural collaboration, and demonstrate innovative leadership.
