In a TVS news report, the Sarawak Premier’s Office said that hosting these high-level events not only showcases Sarawak’s capabilities but also highlights its strategic importance in regional diplomacy and cooperation.

The meeting also discussed issues concerning Sarawak’s borders, which are of critical importance in terms of security, geopolitics, and cross-border trade.

Leading the Sarawak delegation was Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, joined by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, and the Premier’s Chief Political Secretary Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof were also in attendance.

The council further emphasised that all Cabinet decisions should be presented to the Leadership Consultative Council as a platform for joint consultation and policy coordination, while respecting the diverse views of parties within the coalition.

Secretariat chief of the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki noted that the meeting also focused on the mid-term review of the unity government’s performance, which is currently being finalised at the Cabinet level before being tabled to the council.

“The meeting unanimously agreed to evaluate the government’s current achievements, consider feedback on the administration, and place special emphasis on efforts to strengthen the national economy and enhance the people’s wellbeing,” he said in a separate statement.

The meeting also reinforced the need for economic strengthening strategies to enhance competitiveness, spur growth, and ensure that the wellbeing agenda remains at the heart of the unity government’s administration. — DayakDaily
