KUCHING, July 25: Sarawak has once again made its mark on the national stage as two of its representatives clinched top honours at the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Innovation Day 2025, with the State’s Rabies App and Deep Litter Bedding innovation winning major awards and showcasing Sarawak’s growing contribution to veterinary and livestock innovation.
Held over three days from July 22 to 24 at the Wisma Tani Multipurpose Hall in Putrajaya, the prestigious annual programme brought together groundbreaking innovations from across Malaysia in five key categories of Digital Innovation, Technology, Services, Industry (Products), and Industry (Livestock Production).
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report today, DVS Sarawak team emerged victorious in the Digital Innovation category with its Rabies App, an innovative digital solution that streamlines rabies case management while boosting public awareness through systematic and accessible digital tools.

In the private sector category, Miri-based company Alam Bumi Jaya claimed the top spot in Industry Innovation (Livestock Production) with its Deep Litter Bedding system, a sustainable livestock farming solution designed to reduce odour and enhance animal comfort and welfare.
The DVS Sarawak team was led by Rovits Regen, assisted by Nurul Diana Hussaini, with members Josprin Edwin, Magdalene Marin, Jerina Peter Pee, and Linda Gregory. Facilitators for the team were Judas Ligon and Nur Aqma Syairah Syafiqah.
Meanwhile, Alam Bumi Jaya was represented by Loh Jack Shing and Michael Chan Ah Choi, proving that innovative solutions from rural Sarawak can rise to national prominence.
The closing ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Secretary-General (Development) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Malaysia, Datuk Badrul Hisham Mohd, and attended by DVS director-general Dr Akma Ngah Hamid.
DVS Innovation Day not only celebrates excellence in veterinary and livestock innovation but also drives ongoing efforts to develop more efficient, sustainable, and animal-friendly practices to support the nation’s food security and animal welfare agendas. — DayakDaily
