According to him, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is currently focusing on the policy to generate a sustainable economy based on sustainable resources that are based on technology.

“Sarawak has taken steps since 2017 in developing digital economy followed by initiatives on hydrogen economy, development of sustainable resources and clean energy, and is now beginning to explore initiatives to develop compound chip and aerospace industries including efforts boost downstream industry for oil and gas,” said Abang Johari in his 67th National Day celebration message today.

He added that after 61 years of participating in the formation of Malaysia, Sarawak continued to step forward and become competitive in various fields to strengthen and further transform Sarawak’s economy.

Meanwhile, on the National Day celebration, Abang Johari said Malaysia is a big family that looks after the interests of all people of various races and religions in line with the camaraderie spirits of previous leaders who fought to free Malaysia from foreign powers.

He pointed out that in Malaya in 1957, the Malay, Indian, and Chinese leaders joined forces to demand independence from the British, while in Sarawak, the Dayak, Chinese, and Malay leaders joined hands to free Sarawak from the British administration.

“Additionally, Malaysia can also be likened to a big family that looks after the interests of its regions in the middle of the regional and international scene to create an atmosphere conducive to economic development in those regions,” he said. — DayakDaily
