KUCHING, Aug 16: Sarawak’s Professional Certificate in Contemporary Leadership (PCCL) alumni are exploring opportunities to contribute to community and leadership development in Bangsamoro, Southern Philippines, as part of efforts to extend their work beyond the State.
PCCL alumni representative Morshidi Fredrick said the initiative could involve knowledge-sharing, community development, leadership development and youth empowerment, while strengthening people-to-people ties.
“Moving forward, PCCL alumni also aspire to extend our contribution beyond Sarawak,” he said during the Institute of Contemporary Leadership (ICL) soft launch and PCCL Alumni Homecoming Dinner 2026 here tonight.
Morshidi, who is also Permanent Secretary to the Ministry for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) said the initiative reflected Sarawak’s growing role as a regional partner, particularly within ASEAN and BIMP-EAGA.
He said the alumni’s regional aspirations built on the PCCL’s emphasis on leadership through service and contribution.
He cited CSR initiatives undertaken by PCCL alumni in the Lingga State constituency as an example of applying leadership beyond the workplace and classroom.
“Our leadership should therefore not stop at our borders. We should use what we have learned to serve, connect and contribute wherever our experience can make a difference,” he said.
He also said the newly established ICL in Kuching could serve as a platform to develop young leaders, bring together leaders from different sectors and promote inclusive and collaborative leadership. — DayakDaily
