KUCHING, Oct 21: Political pundit Dato Peter Minos has expressed confidence that Sarawak will achieve a gross domestic product (GDP) of RM282 billion by 2030.

Minos stated today that although the RM280 billion target may seem daunting, and some may question its feasibility, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has initiated numerous income-generating projects.

“Watch the green energy initiatives involving carbon storage, green fuel from algae, hydrogen fuel, oil and gas by Petros, and collaborations with Petronas. In a few years, or by 2030, we will reach our RM282 billion. Yes, we can, and we will,” he affirmed.

Minos noted that in 2017, when the Premier announced Sarawak’s shift towards digitalization, many were skeptical.

“Now, we use our smartphones to order food and drinks, and call Grab for transportation. We have embraced digital technology in many aspects of our lives,” he said.

He also pointed out that when the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project was introduced, many dismissed it as too expensive.

“By 2026, we will have ART in Kota Samarahan. It’s already in progress. What seemed impossible is now becoming a reality. It all starts with a vision, planning, and dedicated effort,” he added. — DayakDaily
