KUCHING, Aug 14: Areca Capital has expressed strong confidence in Sarawak’s economic potential with the successful staging of its inaugural Areca Investment & Wealth Forum 2025 (Sarawak) on July 26, 2025 at the Sheraton Kuching Hotel, which brought together thought leaders, investors, and business professionals for a day of deep insights, strategic dialogue, and future-focused financial planning.
Amid ongoing economic headwinds and geopolitical uncertainties reshaping the global landscape, the full-day forum provided a timely platform to explore key market trends, global economic shifts, and actionable investment strategies across diverse asset classes and sectors.
A keynote session titled ‘Navigating the New World Order’ by Tan Sri Andrew Sheng, Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Global Institute, The University of Hong Kong, offered an incisive analysis of the evolving global power structure, delivering crucial insights for investors and business owners alike.
Three insightful and engaging panel sessions followed, beginning with ‘Panel Session 1: Opportunities in Uncertainty – Market and Investment Outlook’.
Moderated by Edward Iskandar Toh, Chief Executive Officer of Acaena Capital Pte Ltd, the session featured Ch’ng Cheng Siew, Chief Investment Officer of Areca Capital, and Ning Jun, Deputy Director of Fullgoal Asset Management HK, who discussed how rate pivots, inflationary pressures, and trade realignments are influencing markets. ‘Panel Session 2: Fuelling Growth – Business and Funding Strategies’ saw Wong Chaw Chern, General Manager of Areca Capital, moderate a discussion with Edward Iskandar Toh and Peter Chai Mui Seng, President of the Sarawak Manufacturers’ Association, on how business owners can access private capital, leverage alternative funding mechanisms, and rethink growth strategies beyond conventional paths.

The final ‘Panel Session 3: Safeguarding Your Legacy – Private Trust and Estate Planning’, moderated by Kuek Ser Kwang Zhe, Editor of Wealth at The Edge, featured Michelle Chuo, Director of PwC Taxation Services, and Darren Ong, Trust Specialist at Areca Capital, who delved into the crucial elements of wealth preservation, including establishing trusts, succession planning, and safeguarding intergenerational wealth.
