KUCHING, Dec 23: Sarawakians have been called to embrace the spirit of patriotism of ‘OneSarawak’ and love for the state.
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa chairman Wilfred Yap said Sarawak which consists of multicultural and multi-religious people of various races must remain united and preserve the culture and traditions under OneSarawak.
He noted traditions, customs and festivals are the foremost of the state’s OneSarawak identity.
“As we celebrate Christmas, we must, as loyal Sarawakians continue to be courageous to stand up for everything that we know is right, everything that is true and honest.
“Sarawakians must never forget the significance of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and must continue to be united behind the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in our pursuit of all the legitimate rights and interest of Sarawak and for the progressive and systematic improvement in the social and economic status of Sarawak,” he said in a statement.
Yap who is also SUPP Public Complaints Bureau chief noted that despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic such as the Movement Control Order (MCO), most Sarawakians have managed to survive the year.
Hence, he believed that Sarawakians should be grateful for the caring policies and numerous subsidy initiatives announced by the GPS government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
At the same time, he wished Sarawakian Christians “Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year” in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebration on December 25. — DayakDaily
