KUCHING, Jan 11: A 46-year-old salesman from Sarawak strikes luck on Dec 26 last year, winning nearly RM29 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1 with numbers from bank notes he has been keeping in a red packet for good luck.
STM Lottery Sdn Bhd, in a statement today, disclosed that the fortunate Sarawakian was among seven winners who collectively bagged over RM33.3 million in Toto 4D Jackpot 1 during the final week of 2023.
“Boxing Day was a special draw day. Initially, I did not plan to buy numbers during the special draw but luckily I changed my mind and drove to a Toto outlet after lunch. Otherwise, I would not have won the jackpot,” he said in the statement.
The winning pair of numbers, 7871 and 9736, were purchased at a Toto outlet in Kings Centre at Jalan Simpang Tiga here.
Opting for a System 4 ticket, he secured an astounding RM28,996,296.85 and an additional RM672 as a System Play bonus.
Despite his newfound millionaire status, the fortunate man said he does not intend to retire early and would continue to work and lead a normal life.
He shared plans to allocate some of his winnings to family and investments.
In another stroke of luck, an i-System winner from Pahang also partook in the jackpot, claiming a share of RM581,865.30 from the total jackpot amounting to RM29,578,162.15.
On Dec 30, 2023, five winners collectively shared the RM3.75 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1. Among them were a 63-year-old businessman from Kedah, who purchased the ticket in Selangor; a 57-year-old manager from Selangor, and a 27-year-old engineer who is also from Selangor.
Additionally, two i-System winners from Sarawak and Selangor secured winnings of RM126,936.45 and RM8,965.80, respectively, from the overall jackpot. — DayakDaily
