KUCHING, March 7: Poomsae athlete Fedealis Kom Twin from Sarawak Taekwondo Association (STA-WTF) will be representing Malaysia in the 16th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championship from March 10 to 12.

According to a press release, Fedealis will be joining the hometown national team athletes namely Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim and Nurul Humaira Abdul Karim to the tournament in Manila, Philippines.

WTF president Azizul Annuar Adenan said he is delighted and proud that Sarawakian athletes are selected again by the national association to represent Malaysia in the ASEAN regional event.

“This championship is on the same level as the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

“Both Hidayah and Humaira have put in a great performance to make our nation proud in the 31st SEA Games 2022 in Vietnam and the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2022 in Goyang, just to name a few.

“Whilst Fedealis also did well and brought home a gold medal for Sarawak in the just ended 13th TM (WTF)-NSC-Milo National Taekwondo Championship 2023 last month in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Azizul, who is also the Tanjong Batu assemblyman, said Fedelias also won himself a silver medal in the 15th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championship held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last year.

“I am proud of Sarawak who again manages to produce for Malaysia to shine nationally.

“The only thing I wish from our young talent is to do their best to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience from other strong national and international players,” he added. — DayakDaily
