KUCHING, Oct 12: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has criticised MYAirline’s sudden announcement of its suspension, calling it “unethical” and “irresponsible” as such abrupt action will disrupt the travel plans of passengers.
“Such sudden announcement is highly unethical and irresponsible as it is overly disruptive to the travel plans of passengers all around the country, including here in Kuching.
“This has caused all kinds of inconveniences and even economic loss to the public and is utterly unacceptable. All relevant ministries including agencies such as the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) should hold them accountable and action must be taken to better protect the rights of consumers,” said Dr Yii in a statement today.
He urged the airline to come up with a robust, designated customer service action plan to address the concerns of affected passengers, as well as to come up with a comprehensive system to ensure the rights of passengers to receive full compensation due to the issues they faced following the sudden announcement of its suspension early this morning.
“The airline must announce as soon as possible their future plans to ensure consumers can make necessary travel arrangements or even changes, and more importantly allow them to get necessary compensation on the matter,” said Dr Yii.
Dr Yii said he will be engaging with both the Transport Minister and also the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living to seek solutions and way forward for the issues faced by affected passengers. — DayakDaily
