KUCHING, Dec 29: A group of talented Sarawakian dancers from Tyng Dance Academy (TDA) recently showcased their prowess at the Asian Single Dance Championship 2023 in Hong Kong, clinching six championship titles along with 11 silver and six bronze medals to contribute to Malaysia’s success.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian applauded the team’s outstanding achievement in a brief post on his social media page yesterday (Dec 28).
“Heartiest congratulations to our Sarawakian athletes for winning not one, but six championship titles, along with 11 silver medals and six bronze medals. In total, they amassed a whopping 46 awards at the conclusion of the event,” he expressed.
TDA, on their social media page, echoed the pride felt for their dancers who have now etched their names in dance history with their phenomenal performances.
The team’s overall medal tally included six gold, 11 silver, and six bronze medals, along with notable achievements by individual contestants.
Claudia Tay Jia Yen excelled with four gold and one silver medal; Janice Liaw Qian Ning claimed one gold, three silver, and one bronze medals; Jayda Chang Xu Ern earned one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals; Trisha Yap Tai Qii garnered four silver and two bronze medals; and Jovanna Goh Yi Xian secured one silver and one bronze medal.
Additionally, the team’s success extended to placements, with five contestants achieving fourth place, 10 in fifth place, six in sixth place, and two in seventh place, further solidifying their outstanding performance at the prestigious championship. ā DayakDaily
