KUCHING, July 8: The Sarawak Women’s Day 2025 (HW25) celebration on Aug 2 will recognise outstanding Sarawakian women who have brought pride to the State and nation in various fields through the presentation of special awards.
Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the annual celebration aims to honour the contributions of women in building families, communities, the State and the nation.
“This year, we will also focus on a special recognition programme to honour the achievements of Sarawakian women who have made significant impact and elevated the State’s name in their respective domains,” she said at a press conference after chairing the HW25 organising meeting at Wisma Wanita in Petra Jaya here today, as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Themed ‘Diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusivity (D2EI)’, HW25 will be held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex and will include the Premier of Sarawak Women’s Leadership Awards, which encompass the categories of Women Entrepreneur, Social Advocate, Outstanding Achievement, Outstanding NGO, and Young Leader.
Fatimah noted that the event’s guest list has been capped at 800 participants due to space limitations and will not involve all women entrepreneurs and NGO representatives.
However, she assured that the celebration is designed to be inclusive, with Zoom participation extended to women representatives from all 45 districts across Sarawak.
Each district will also receive allocations to organise simultaneous local-level celebrations.
