Sarawak wins 5th gold in pétanque at Sukma 2024

KUCHING, Aug 22: The Sarawak contingent continues to shine in the pétanque competition at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma), claiming their fifth gold medal in the men’s triple event at the Sarawak Pétanque Centre.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the gold medal was secured by Abdul Harith Oris, Aniq Asyraff Mohamad Hafizul, and Farid Amirul Muhamad.

The home team triumphed over Kelantan with a score of 10-5, while Johor claimed the bronze after beating Melaka 7-3.

In the mixed triple event (one man and two women), Sarawak added to their medal tally by securing a silver medal through Ain Afzan Aisyah Ezlan, Akhtar Shauqi Aini Mohd Dom, and Nur Durratul Sahira Yazit.

The Sabah team won gold, defeating Sarawak 10-7, while Johor took bronze after a 13-7 victory over Negeri Sembilan.

As of the sixth day of the pétanque competition, Sarawak has amassed a total of five gold and three silver medals. — DayakDaily
