KUCHING, March 15: Sarawak Volunteers with assistance from Rumah Sarawak in Kuala Lumpur will bear all expenses and make all necessary arrangements to fly the three children of a Sarawakian couple, who died of electrocution in Cameron Highlands, back to Kuching tomorrow (March 16).
According to Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, the three siblings will be taken home by their uncle on their mother’s side, Robert Adi, 43, and his wife Kelly Jhon, 36, who had immediately flown in to Kuala Lumpur following the accident.
“All flight arrangements for the three siblings and their next-of-kin as well as transit accommodation and funeral arrangements for the victims will be fully funded by Sarawak Volunteers with the help of Rumah Sarawak in Kuala Lumpur,” he shared in a social media post today.
Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya MP, revealed this after visiting the children in Kuala Lumpur today.
He added that efforts to help the family were mobilised immediately since the day of the accident with officers from Rumah Sarawak and Sarawak Volunteers rushing to Cameron Highlands upon receiving a report of the accident last Thursday (March 10) to provide necessary assistance.
“Thanks to Rumah Sarawak in Kuala Lumpur led by its director Awang Supian Awang Daud who has helped to facilitate all matters to help the family,” said Fadillah who also extended his condolences to the family members of the deceased couple.
Meanwhile, the deceased father, 46, from Kampung Daha Kisau in Serian and his wife, 35, from Kampung Ruan Lubang Tiung in Simunjan were found dead in a bathroom of a flat in Taman Tringkap, Brinchang in Cameron Highlands on March 10.
Preliminary investigations found burn marks on the palm of the woman, who was believed to have been electrocuted when she went to help her husband who was showering using the water heater at the time. — DayakDaily
