“These initiatives underscore our commitment to harnessing AI as a fundamental driver of digital transformation across various sectors.

“We will collaborate closely with industry experts, academia, federal authorities, and international bodies to ensure a meaningful contribution to our AI transformation journey,” he said when officiating the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2024 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

To accelerate Sarawak’s AI transformation, Abang Johari highlighted ongoing efforts to establish the Sarawak AI Centre, which will lead initiatives in AI development and its integration into the region’s digital infrastructure.

“The Centre is pivotal in driving innovation and positioning Sarawak as a hub for AI research and development. Through strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and government entities, the Sarawak AI Centre is nurturing a vibrant AI ecosystem,” he remarked.

One of the Centre’s flagship initiatives include an ‘AI for Smart Agriculture’ programme, which utilises AI-powered data analytics to optimise crop yields and promote sustainability in agriculture.

The Centre is also spearheading healthcare projects, including predictive analytics for early disease detection and enhancing energy efficiency through AI-driven smart grid systems.

“We remain dedicated to implementing ethical and transparent digital strategies that enhance the quality of life for every Sarawakian,” Abang Johari affirmed. — DayakDaily
