KUCHING, May 15: Sarawak will introduce standardised assessments for Primary 6 students starting in 2025 and for Form 3 students in 2028, according to Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

The Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Minister made the announcement during his ministerial winding-up speech in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Monday (May 13).

“The assessments will focus on Dual Language Programme (DLP) subjects such as Science, Mathematics, and English.

“The first cohort of 2020 will sit for the assessment in 2025,” he said.

Sagah went on to say that his ministry has also had discussions with international assessment bodies, which will be finalised in the near future.

He stated that the goal is to ensure that standardised assessments are of high quality while not burdening students and parents.

This change in the assessment system occurred after the central government abolished Form 3 assessments in June 2022.
