KUCHING, July 27: Sarawak is set to explore the utilisation of technology to improve its security.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the matter was discussed between Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a courtesy visit by Commander of the Army’s Eastern Field Command, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi to the former’s office at Bangunan Baitul Makmur 1 today.
Apart from that, Mohd Sofi’s first visit to the Premier since he took over the position of the 6th Commander of the Eastern Field Command on June 7 is also to introduce himself and deliberate on the mandate as well as the latest developments regarding aspects of security and defence in Sarawak.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Mohd Safi said that, at the moment, the level of security in Sarawak is under control and operations at the border posts have also been improved.
He also conveyed his gratitude to the Sarawak government for offering equipment and supplies to the Malaysian Army under the ‘Sarawak Defense Package’ programme. — DayakDaily
