KOTA SAMARAHAN, Nov 6: Sarawak has started the production of green ammonia, green methanol, and green hydrogen with a target of commercial production by 2028.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated this during his speech at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s (Unimas) 27th convocation ceremony today at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Hall (DeTAR PUTRA) in Unimas here.
“This also shows the commitment of the State government to reduce carbon emissions, accept clean energy solutions, and push Sarawak to an era that is more responsible for nature,” he said.
The Premier further stated that Sarawak has emerged as a leader in the energy transition due to its utilisation of renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, and water, in accordance with net-zero growth and sustainable development objectives.
“Additionally, the State of Sarawak is capable of providing the most competitive unsubsidised electricity rates in Southeast Asia, which are also appealing to foreign investors.
“We have recently begun selling renewable energy generated in Sarawak to Singapore as well,” he remarked. — DayakDaily
