KUCHING, Aug 12: The Sarawak Teakwondo Federation (WTF) will send 13 exponents to the 2023 Asian Taekwondo Club Championships in Shenzhen, from Aug 11 to 15.
Sarawak WTF president Azizul Annuar Adenan in a statement said the team will be led by Grand Master Tan Check Joon together with team coaches Purim Purintaphiban and Eimran Ghaffary Mohamad Daud.
“It has always been our aim to provide an opportunity and to develop more young Sarawakians to compete,” he said.
Azizul added that he is confident all the athletes will deliver in both kyorugi and poomsae events.
“I am sure they will spur the rest of the members to train harder and become eligible to represent Sarawak, including to perform well in the coming Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 in August next year in the State,” he said.
For the kyorugi event, the team line-up consists of Clement Law Mien Mua, Leoston Kok Zi Yi, Jong Thian Fatt, Chai Soon Hian and Puteri Durratun Zulaikha Samat, while in the Poomsae event are Zara Nur Zafirah Binti Mohd Yusof, Fedealis Kom Twin, Iris Nur Irdina Mohd Yusof, Awanis Maisara Mohamad Nor Arbi, Cinta Kirana Mohamad Nazid, Harry Daniel Hunter, Anuwath A/L Sarat and Emerald Cole Willie. — DayakDaily
