KUCHING, May 14: Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) has secured RM381.6 million to implement 61 physical projects and 22 ‘Projek Rakyat’ under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
Its Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that of the total number of projects, 10 have been completed, 35 are under implementation while the remaining 38 are being planned.
“For your information, the ‘under planning’ projects are mostly new projects approved under Projek Rakyat and Mid-Term Review of 12MP, while others are under tender documentation, finalising the design/drawing and siting application (stages),” he said when presenting his ministerial winding-up speech during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting here today.
He further said that the proposed improvement works to Kapit Indoor Stadium and proposed improvement works to Kapit Swimming Pool is expected to open for tender in June 2024 and work will commence by early Sept 2024.
“The project duration is eight months and expected to be completed by Quarter 2, 2025. These projects will kick off concurrently and the implementing agency is Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR),” he added.
Additionally, he said, the Ministry will start work on the ‘Proposed Retrofitting and Covered Outdoor Learning Areas (COLA) of Swimming Pool Project’ for Miri Public Swimming Pool.
Tentatively, the project will be awarded in Quarter 3, 2024 and is expected to be completed by Quarter 1, 2025. The implementing agency for this project is Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC).
“Besides this, my Ministry will also kick off the Proposed Improvement Works to Miri Public Swimming Pool to carry out full scope of the repair works for the pump and filtration systems for the swimming pool. The implementing agency for this project is Miri City Council (MCC).
“My Ministry and its implementing agencies will continue to work together in ensuring all projects under Projek Rakyat and 12MP, will be implemented and completed as scheduled,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
