KUCHING, Oct 31: Sarawak took centre stage at the 2025 International Civil Aviation Forum in Shanghai, as Transport Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, delivered a keynote address highlighting the State’s vision for enhancing global connectivity and embracing innovation in aviation.
In a statement, he introduced Sarawak’s latest strategies and vision in the fields of aviation and sustainable transport to the international audience.
He remarked that Sarawak is at a pivotal stage in transforming its aviation sector, moving from regional connectivity toward an international framework.
“Through innovation and collaboration, we aim to connect Sarawak to regional and global aviation networks, creating more high-value employment opportunities for our people while positioning Sarawak on the global aviation map,” he said.
Lim also added that Sarawak welcomes closer cooperation with international aviation authorities, research institutions, and industry partners to jointly explore the future of sustainable and smart mobility.
The forum, which Lee was invited to, was themed ‘Enhancing Global Connectivity & Embracing Innovation for Aviation’ and held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Guided by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and jointly organised by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac), it gathered over 300 delegates from various countries and regions across the global civil aviation sector.
Building on the success of the inaugural forum in 2024, this year’s event further expanded its international reach and deepened global dialogue, solidifying its position as a key platform for promoting global cooperation and innovation in civil aviation. — DayakDaily
